Ikego is a participatory circular design project. In an open distributed process, we invent a super universal design system to build almost anything. Think „LEGO meets IKEA“. And we want your contribution.

- You can find a short introduction to our collaborative circular design mission on our About page.
- How the universal design system works in practice – the 30mm grid and more – is explained here.
- Information on how to develop and submit contributions to the open catalog can be found here.
- Wonder about IP? The system is open! This means all individual parts can be used by anyone, for any purpose, free of charge. However, this openness applies only to the parts. The specific sets you build from these parts remain your intellectual property. It will be your project, for your portfolio and your exclusive potential economic benefits.
- To understand the current state of the project – we are in a research process – take a look at the set catalog and the first 150 parts.
- Ikego is about a public collaborative design process. You build on the work of others and enable them to build on yours. It’s not about becoming a super individualistic design genius. It’s about designing the collaborative process around industrial design in a new way so that design can truly become sustainable. Learn more.
How do I use this for my semester project? What do I tell my professor? Is there support?
- Start your semester project as usual, but with the goal to use the Ikego system for it. Utilize multipurpose parts; add new ones where necessary. Get your professor on board early and try to get as much support as possible.
- We – designers from the Ikego Network – offer regular calls to support you. You’ll get advice, ideas, and opportunities from a second source.
- Follow your discoveries and insights, solve problems, and more. If you happen to stray from the IKEGO path along the way, no problem. Your semester learning experience is what matters most.
- Finally, you can choose to contribute your results to the public catalog for others to learn from and build upon. We will create a link between your portfolio and the Ikego website. And you’ll be an Ikego designer! You’ll build a network and create interesting future job and income prospects because you are already experienced in the system.
